Overview
What is Peels for Skin Glow and who is it for?
A glow peel is a superficial chemical peel. A mild acid solution, such as glycolic, lactic, mandelic or salicylic acid, or a combination, is applied to clean skin for a few minutes. It loosens the bonds between dead surface cells so they shed more evenly over the following days. The result is smoother texture, a more even tone and skin that reflects light better, which is what people notice as glow.
These peels work only on the outermost layer of skin, so there is little or no peeling you can see and no real downtime. They are different from medium or deep peels used for scars or heavy pigmentation. Because Indian skin tones have more active pigment cells, the choice of acid and how long it stays on are important. Too aggressive a peel can cause irritation or darkening, which is why the peel is chosen and applied by a dermatologist.
One peel gives a quick freshness that many people like before a wedding or event. For lasting improvement in tone and texture, a course of peels a few weeks apart works better, together with a good home routine and daily sunscreen. Dr. Shilpa may combine peels with other treatments, such as a medifacial, depending on what your skin needs and how it responds to the first session.
The procedure
What happens during the treatment?
- 1
Skin assessment
Dr. Shilpa checks your skin type, sensitivity, any active acne or pigmentation, and your current products. Some people are asked to prepare the skin with a cream for a week or two first.
- 2
Cleansing and prep
Your face is cleansed and degreased so the peel spreads evenly. Delicate areas such as the corners of the nose and lips are protected.
- 3
Peel application
The peel solution is brushed on and left for a set time, usually a few minutes. A warm or tingling feeling is normal and is monitored throughout.
- 4
Neutralising and soothing
The peel is neutralised or removed, then a calming moisturiser and sunscreen are applied. You can leave straight after.

Is it right for you?
Glow peels suit most adults with dull or uneven skin who want a gentle, low-downtime refresh. They are usually avoided during pregnancy, on sunburnt or broken skin, during an active cold sore, or soon after isotretinoin. If your skin is very sensitive or you have melasma, Dr. Shilpa will choose a milder peel or suggest a different plan.

FAQs
Frequently asked questions
Usually not. Glow peels are superficial, so most people see no peeling at all or just light flaking around the nose and mouth for two or three days. Heavy, sheet-like peeling is not expected with these peels. If it happens, keep the skin moisturised and do not pull at it.
