Overview
What is BB Glow Facial and who is it for?
BB Glow is a cosmetic facial that combines nano-needling, a very shallow form of microneedling, with a tinted serum. The serum usually contains a light pigment matched to your skin tone along with ingredients such as niacinamide, peptides or hyaluronic acid. The fine needles create tiny channels in the top layer of the skin so the serum is taken up more evenly.
The effect is a softly tinted, more even-looking complexion, similar to wearing a light BB cream. It can make mild redness, dullness and uneven tone look less noticeable, and the serum ingredients add some hydration. It does not treat the cause of pigmentation, melasma or acne marks, and the tint fades over a few weeks to a few months as the skin renews itself.
Because a pigment is placed in the skin, the shade must be matched carefully and a patch test is done first. Long-term data on these tinted serums is still limited, so we take a cautious approach and use sterile, single-use needle cartridges. Dr. Shilpa will check whether BB Glow suits your skin or whether a treatment for the underlying concern would help you more.
The procedure
What happens during the treatment?
- 1
Consultation and patch test
Your skin is assessed, the serum shade is matched, and a small patch test is done to check for any reaction.
- 2
Cleanse and gentle exfoliation
The face is cleaned thoroughly and lightly exfoliated to prepare the surface.
- 3
Nano-needling with serum
The tinted serum is applied and worked in with a fine nano-needling device in light, even passes.
- 4
Calm and protect
A soothing mask, moisturiser and sunscreen are applied before you leave.
