Overview
What is Skin Boosters and who is it for?
Skin boosters are injectable treatments that use a thin, lightly cross-linked hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is a substance your skin already makes. It holds water, which keeps skin plump and supple. As we age, and with sun exposure, stress and lack of sleep, the amount in the skin falls, and the skin starts to look drier, duller and less elastic. Moisturisers help the surface, but they cannot replace what is lost deeper down.
Unlike fillers, which are used to add volume or reshape areas like the cheeks or lips, skin boosters are spread across an area in many tiny injections. They work on hydration and texture rather than shape. Some formulations also contain amino acids or other ingredients that support the skin. They are commonly used on the face, neck, hands and around the eyes in selected cases.
Results build gradually over a few weeks as the skin draws in and holds water. A course is usually given, followed by maintenance sessions. The change is subtle, so people tend to notice that your skin looks healthier rather than that you have had something done. This is a medical procedure, so it is done by a doctor after checking your skin, medical history and expectations.
The procedure
What happens during the treatment?
- 1
Consultation
Dr. Shilpa examines your skin, reviews your medical history and medicines, and explains whether boosters suit your concern.
- 2
Numbing and cleansing
The area is cleaned thoroughly and a numbing cream is applied for comfort.
- 3
Micro-injections
Small amounts of the gel are placed with a fine needle or cannula across the treatment area. Small bumps settle within a day or so.
- 4
Follow-up
The next session is planned, usually 3 to 4 weeks later, and your skin is reviewed.

Frequently asked questions
Both often use hyaluronic acid, but in different ways. Fillers are thicker gels used to add volume or shape, for example in cheeks or lips. Skin boosters are much thinner and spread in tiny amounts to improve hydration and texture. They do not change the shape of your face.
