Overview
What is Microblading / Nanoblading and who is it for?
Microblading is a form of cosmetic tattooing for the eyebrows. A small hand tool with a row of very fine needles is used to make shallow, hair-like cuts in the upper layer of the skin, and pigment is placed into them. The strokes are drawn in the direction your natural hairs grow, so the brow looks filled in rather than painted on. It works best when you still have some brow hair to blend with.
Nanoblading follows the same idea but uses a single, much finer needle, usually on a small machine. The strokes can be thinner and more precise, which some people find looks softer and causes less trauma to the skin. The choice between the two depends on your skin type, how much hair you have, and the look you want. Oily skin, for example, tends to blur fine strokes faster.
Neither technique lasts forever. The pigment slowly fades as the skin renews itself, so most people need a touch-up session after the first few weeks and a colour refresh every year or so. Sun exposure, oily skin, acne products and exfoliating treatments can all shorten how long the result holds. Because it is a procedure that breaks the skin, hygiene matters. Single-use needles, a clean setup and a proper skin check beforehand lower the risk of infection or a reaction to the pigment.
The procedure
What happens during the treatment?
- 1
Consultation and skin check
We look at your brow hair, skin type and any skin conditions, discuss the shape you want, and check whether you are a suitable candidate.
- 2
Brow mapping and colour choice
The brow shape is measured and drawn on your face so you can approve it. A pigment shade is chosen to match your hair and skin tone.
- 3
Numbing and stroke work
A numbing cream is applied. Fine strokes are then made with the blade or nano needle, and pigment is worked into them in layers.
- 4
Touch-up visit
After the skin heals, usually in 4 to 8 weeks, a follow-up session fills any gaps where the pigment did not hold evenly.
Benefits
What are the benefits?
- Adds the look of hair strokes where your brows are thin or patchy.
- Saves you the time of filling in your brows every morning.
- Shape is designed around your face and approved before any work begins.
- Brows stay in place through sweat, swimming and humid Bangalore days once healed.
- Fades gradually, so you can adjust the shape or colour at a later session.
Is it right for you?
Microblading and nanoblading suit most adults with sparse, uneven or over-plucked brows. They may not be right if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have keloid tendency, active eczema or psoriasis on the brows, uncontrolled diabetes, or are on isotretinoin or blood thinners. Very oily skin may do better with powder brows. Dr. Shilpa will advise after seeing you in person.
Aftercare
How should you care for your skin afterwards?
- 01Keep the brows dry for the first 7 days and avoid washing your face directly over them.
- 02Do not pick or scratch flaking skin, let it fall off on its own.
- 03Avoid make-up, sweating, swimming, steam and saunas on the brow area until healed.
- 04Use only the ointment you are given, and apply it in a thin layer.
- 05Protect healed brows from the sun to slow fading.

Most people describe it as scratchy and mildly uncomfortable rather than painful. A numbing cream is applied before the strokes and topped up during the session. Sensitivity varies from person to person and can be higher around your periods. If you feel discomfort, tell us and we will pause and re-apply numbing.
