Overview
What is Open Pores Treatment and who is it for?
Pores are the openings of hair follicles and oil glands. They look larger when the skin produces more oil, when they fill with debris, or when the skin around them loses collagen and firmness with age or sun damage. Pores on the cheeks may also widen after years of acne. Because pore size is partly genetic, the aim is to make them less noticeable rather than to remove them.
Treatment usually starts with a routine that controls oil and keeps pores clear, such as retinoids and suitable cleansers. In the clinic, chemical peels help clear and refine the skin surface. Microneedling, with or without radiofrequency, and fractional laser stimulate new collagen, which tightens the skin around pores. Several sessions are usually needed, and results build gradually over a few months.
