Skin Care · PRP + MNRF for Skin

Smoother skin texture by combining MNRF with your own PRP

PRP + MNRF pairs microneedling radiofrequency with platelet-rich plasma from your own blood. The fine needles and heat prompt the skin to build new collagen, and the PRP adds growth factors that support healing. Dr. Shilpa R K uses this combination for acne scars, enlarged pores and rough texture when it suits your skin.

  • Acne scars

Overview

What is PRP + MNRF for Skin and who is it for?

MNRF stands for microneedling radiofrequency. Very fine insulated needles enter the skin to a set depth and release radiofrequency energy at the tip. This creates tiny, controlled zones of heat in the deeper layer while the surface stays largely intact. The skin responds by producing fresh collagen and elastin over the following weeks, which can soften scars and tighten pores.

PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, is prepared from a small sample of your blood. The blood is spun in a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets, which carry growth factors involved in tissue repair. When PRP is applied over or injected into the treated skin, it may support healing and improve the response to MNRF. Because it comes from your own body, allergic reactions are unlikely.

This combination is usually done as a course of sessions spaced about a month apart, since collagen takes time to rebuild. Improvement is gradual and continues for several months after the last session. Results vary with the type and depth of scars, your age and how your skin heals. Dr. Shilpa decides whether PRP + MNRF is right for you after an in-person assessment.

The procedure

What happens during the treatment?

  1. 1

    Assessment and planning

Dr. Shilpa examines your scars or texture concerns, checks your medical history and confirms there is no active acne or infection in the area.

  2. 2

    Numbing and blood draw

A numbing cream is applied for about 45 minutes. Meanwhile, a small blood sample is taken and processed to prepare the PRP.

  3. 3

    MNRF treatment

The microneedling radiofrequency handpiece is passed over the area, with depth and energy adjusted for each zone of your face.

  4. 4

    PRP application

The prepared PRP is applied over the treated skin and may be injected into specific scars. A soothing cream is applied at the end.

Benefits

What are the benefits?

  • Targets the deeper layer where scars form while keeping the surface largely intact.
  • Uses your own plasma, so the risk of allergy is low.
  • Can improve acne scars, open pores and texture in the same session.
  • Energy and depth can be adjusted for different areas of the face.
  • Lower risk of pigmentation than some surface-resurfacing methods in Indian skin.

Is it right for you?

PRP + MNRF suits adults with acne scars, large pores or uneven texture who have no active breakouts. It is not suitable during pregnancy, with active skin infection, bleeding disorders, a pacemaker or metal implants in the face. If you form keloids or take blood thinners, Dr. Shilpa will discuss whether this treatment is appropriate.

Aftercare

How should you care for your skin afterwards?

  • 01Do not wash your face for the first 6-8 hours after treatment.

  • 04Avoid the gym, saunas, swimming and direct sun for 3-5 days.
  • 05Do not pick at any small scabs or dry patches.
  • 06Pause retinoids and exfoliating acids until Dr. Shilpa says to restart.

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

A numbing cream is applied for about 45 minutes beforehand, so most people describe the treatment as a prickling or warm sensation rather than sharp pain. Areas over bone, like the forehead, may feel more sensitive. The blood draw feels like a routine blood test.
